Safari Float Class 1

Rafting Río Toro Class 3 - 4

The Río Toro explodes with a series of over 45 continuous class 3-4 rapids – you'll spend more than 2 ½ hours rafting through unexplored, tropical wilderness on a personalized, small-group tour. The exciting Río Toro is located only 1 hour from La Fortuna.

Once at the river, experienced guides will give you a thorough safety talk, get you set up with your helmet, life jacket and paddle and then you're off – you'll be paddling for more than 2 ½ hours – there will be a stop along the way for a nice, tropical fruit break and afterward you will be taken out for a typical Costa Rican “casado” lunch. You'll return to La Fortuna and the Arenal Area around 3:30-4:00 pm (the Río Toro is located only 1 hour from La Fortuna – it is much closer than the Sarapiqui).

Rafters should be ages 13 to 55 and in good physical condition. Although you don't need experience, rafters should know how to swim. Secure shoes and dry clothes to change into.

Imagine yourself in the midst of thick rainforest at the top of a magical canyon full of tropical waterfalls with surprises each step of the way. Prepare to get wet! Your guides will start off with a thorough safety talk to explain important rappelling and down-climbing techniques. You will be provided high-quality technical climbing gear such as a harness, helmet, gloves and you will get to practice your first descent on a mini 15-ft waterfall, just to get the hang of things. Arenal Hanging Bridges

Arenal Hanging Bridges is a beautiful, environmentally friendly project located near the Arenal Volcano. Arenal Volcano Hike (The famous "Liquid Lava Tour")

Hike through lush rainforest with a naturalist guide close to the base of the Arenal Volcano where we wait for sunset at the observation point. As it starts to get dark, on clear nights you can see the amazing lava flow of Central America's most-active volcano.

Cerro Chato Volcano Extreme Hike

This is an intense 4-5 hour hike through lush rain forest to the extinct volcano Cerro Chato. You will arrive at the volcano's crater, drop down to an emerald-green lagoon, and then hike out. Afterward there is an option to visit the 150-ft waterfall in La Fortuna.

Note: this tour is only recommended for people in peak physical condition who are able to hike in extreme conditions.

Lake Arenal Kayaking

Río Celeste Hike at Tenorio Volcano National Park

The journey begins with an early morning scenic drive through rural Costa Rica to Tenorio Volcano National Park. From there, you'll begin a 4 hour intermediate hike (approximately 7 km) through the surrounding tropical rainforest. You then arrive to "Los Teñíderos" where two rivers come together to form the celestial turquoise-blue water color that gives the river its name.

You will return back through the national park to the spectacular Río Celeste waterfall — the perfect place to take photos. Finish off with a delicious local lunch as we head back to La Fortuna.

Sport Fishing on Lake Arenal

Beautiful Lake Arenal at the base of Arenal Volcano is world famous for its colorful Rainbow Bass (or Guapote). These hard-fighting fish can reach over 12 pounds and are excellent eating. The lake also has guapote pinto bass or machaca, a smaller member of the tarpon family that is well known for it’s tremendous fighting ability.

Fish at the base of Arenal volcano, close enough to see and hear lava coming down the side of the mountain! Your experienced guide will provide you with top-quality gear for conventional, spinner, or fly-fishing. The boat is fully equipped with marine communications, life-vests, and safety gear. Novices and children are more than welcome.
