 Holistic Wellness Services

Swedish Massage — uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee over a period of eight weeks. It has also been shown to be helpful in individuals with poor circulation.

Aromatherapy — a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering a person’s mind, mood, cognitive function or health.

Deep Tissue Massage — designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is not uncommon for receivers of deep tissue to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two.

Craniosacral Therapy — also called CST, involves the therapists placing their hands on the patient, which allows them to tune into what they call the craniosacral rhythm. The practitioner claims to gently works with the spine and the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms and fascia. In this way, the restrictions of spinal cord is said to be optimized and misaligned bones are said to be restored to their proper position. It is used to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.

Reiki —  the art of therapeutic energy manipulation. Developed in the early 1900’s by Mikao Usui in Japan. Reiki comes from the two Japanese words Rei and Ki, meaning Universal Life Force Energy. Hands are placed on various areas of the body and the experience varies from a sensation of heat to a tingling or vibrating feeling.

Acupuncture — century’s old oriental healing method of healing body, mind and spirit.  Acupuncture balances the body and speeds up natural healing tendencies we all already have.

Hot Rock Massage — Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones, either as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body while they massage other parts of the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly.

Chinese Cupping Style Massage — Cupping Therapy is an ancient medical treatment that creates suction to mobilise blood flow in order to promote healing. Suction is created using heat (fire) or mechanical devices (hand or electrical pumps). The use of Cupping Therapy has historically been a part of many cultures of the world.

First the cup is heated, then the rim is applied to the skin forming an air-tight seal. As the air inside the cup cools it contracts forming a partial vacuum, enabling the cup to suck the skin, pulling in soft tissue, and drawing blood to that area. Alternately the suction is created by a hand-pump and blood is allowed to collect.

Cupping Style Massage — Cupping therapy is one of the oldest natural healing therapies in the world, and was a very popular therapy for more than 2500 years. Cupping therapy was used by all civilizations around the world, including the Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Chinese. It is one of the corner stones of Traditional Chinese Medicine. There are many types of cupping therapy. Wet cupping, herbal cupping, dry cupping and massage cupping are examples of cupping therapies.
