Visit the Local Farmer’s Market

The farmer’s market is a beloved Costa Rican tradition that offers a unique window into local life and an unforgettable sensory experience. Finca Luna Nueva Lodge invites you to join this vibrant market in the local area  where you can enjoy a guided tour and conclude with a delicious lunch cooked in an authentic kitchen.

A Local Adventure

At the crack of dawn, the farmer’s market, affectionately known as “la feria,” comes to life, becoming a weekly ritual for thousands of Costa Ricans. From Finca Luna Nueva, we will take you to explore the Thursday market in Ciudad Quesada or the Saturday market in the picturesque town of La Tigra. This walk will immerse you in the daily life of a small rural Costa Rican town, providing a perfect introduction to local culture. Along the way, you’ll also learn about the history of Ciudad Quesada or La Tigra and hear interesting facts that make these towns unique.

Discovering the Market

Upon arriving at the market, you’ll be greeted by an explosion of colors and aromas. The stands are filled with fresh produce, from mangoes to pejibayes and fresh coconuts. We will provide you with pocket money for shopping during the fair tour, so you can try a “Copo,” the traditional shaved ice treat, or indulge in freshly cut fruits like watermelon or rambutan. The market also offers herbs, potted flowers, baked goods, and local crafts, making it an ideal place to find charming souvenirs to remember your visit.

A Cultural Experience

The market is not only a place to shop but also a place to observe Costa Rican life in its purest form. Here, locals gather to socialize, share news, and enjoy a friendly atmosphere. You’ll see neighbors chatting, families strolling, and children playing soccer, all while vendors serve their customers with a smile. As a visitor, it’s a great opportunity to practice your Spanish, get to know the locals, and try new specialties and treats.

A Delicious Finale

This tour includes a traditional lunch prepared in an authentic Costa Rican kitchen. This meal is not only a culinary delight but also an opportunity to experience genuine Costa Rican cuisine and the heart of communal life.
